Goed Folk – Purple crocodiles do not exist

An illusion becomes reality and reality is increasingly becoming that illusion. The photo book ‘Purple crocodiles do not exist’ dives into a real fairy-tale world full of amusement. Hereby Disney elements are extensively borrowed from our collective memory to create a megalomaniac and themed children’s party. The experience is mainly found in the perfect styling, which reduces the Disneyfilms story elements and the child’s imaginative world to only decoration. The parties lean strongly on gender-confirming roles and unconsciously learn a strong beauty ideal. The borders between the reality and the fairy-tale world fade away. The parents are only spectators who wait at the side of the party. They don’t have to do anything; there is no need for interaction between the parent and the child. The parties have a start- and end time, a solid program and employees who lead everything up and running, build up and break down. In this way these celebrations turn into an excessive status event for the parents, where they can profile their self-chosen image.
